Good morning! Here is this week's parent update...3rd graders are taking the ACT Aspire assessment this week, and we are excited for them to show how much they've learned this year! https://www.smore.com/wcujx
Our teachers wrote encouraging notes to the students who will be taking ACT Aspire the next two weeks. Our 3rd graders will test the week of April 25-29 and 4th and 5th graders will be testing the week of May 2nd-May 6th.
Please make sure your student goes to bed early the night before and comes to school on time. All testing will start at 8:30 am.

It's almost time for family fun night! For students in grades PK, K, 1, 2, 4, and 5, come anytime between 5:30 and 7:15. There will be games and activites in the gym, art room, and EAST room as well as free food by the gym. For 3rd graders, they will come in at 5:30 and go to classrooms (please wait until 5:30 to arrive) and family members will go find seats in the cafeteria. Once the program is over around 6:30, they can join the fun in the art room, gym, and EAST room and grab some free food. See you soon!

We are so excited for Westwood's first ever 1st grade program! Students should be here at 5:30 (doors will open at 5:30- no earlier), and they will go to their classrooms. Adults can go find a seat in the cafeteria until the performance starts at 6:00. There will be concessions for sale and a free photo booth. Students will be picked up back in their classrooms after the program is over around 6:30. See you soon!

We also celebrated Librarians’ Day last week. Mrs. Stark has done a FABULOUS job stepping in for us this semester. Kids are reading, going on scavenger hunts in the library…so many fun things! We appreciate you, Mrs. Stark.
This morning at approximately 7:40 AM Westwood elementary had an electrical fire in a piece of kitchen equipment in the kitchen area. Staff responded quickly and appropriately to secure the area. All students were evacuated and at no time were in danger. There were no injuries. The fire caused minimal damage to the cafeteria. We are thankful for the Springdale fire department for their quick response. They were on scene and confirmed that everything is safe at Westwood.
Students will still be able to have food served in the cafeteria today. Very proud of our Westwood wolves and thankful for our Springdale fire department.
