My name is Jena Anderson and I am the Professional School Counselor at Parson Hills. I received my Masters of Science in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arkansas in 2015. I worked as a high school counselor before joining the team at Parson Hills. Before my career in counseling, I was the Creative Director for Celebrate Arkansas Magazine. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Journalism in 2009. I feel very lucky to have found a profession I love and am grateful to serve the students at Parson Hills. Each day I strive to make sure the students I encounter feel respected, heard, valued and part of the school family. My primary role is to help students develop their social emotional skills through classroom lessons, small groups and individual counseling. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Students from the Parson Hills EAST program spent Thursday afternoon working with multiple elementary EAST programs as well as students from the School of Innovation. Schools discussed the importance of mentoring and involving more female students in STEAM activities. Students participated by teaching each other basic coding skills to program robots as well as drones. The goal of the meeting was to create interest in becoming a mentor for female students throughout Springdale elementary schools. "Girls Can (T)oo", our program to create mentors, will begin here at Parson Hills in just a couple of weeks with approximately 10 fourth and fifth grade female students taking charge.
My name is Wade Ward and I am the EAST Facilitator here at Parson Hills. This is my first year at Parson Hills, but I have worked with the Panthers on numerous occasions while at JO Kelly and Sonora Middle Schools. It is amazing how many of my former students I see picking up their younger brothers and sisters! I would consider myself a lifelong learner with multiple college degrees including a Masters in Business Administration as well as a Masters in Educational Leadership. I am also a commercially licensed drone pilot and love things related to flight. I have been married for 12 years and have an 8 year old daughter who loves to play basketball and mountain climb. My goal is to help students learn how to learn, to take control of their own learning and dive deep into areas of interest to them. By working with incredible business and educational partners, EAST students have the opportunity to not only step outside the box of traditional learning, but also to take that box and turn it into something much more usable and helpful to our community. I am so excited to be here at Parson Hills, working with amazing students and teachers to create something incredible!

My name is Donna Gibson. I teach 2 nd grade at Parson Hills. I was born in England and lived the first 17 years of my life in different countries overseas. After graduating high school I moved to the United
States to attend college. I have my Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of
Arkansas. Since moving here, I am happy to call Northwest Arkansas my home now and that is where I
met my husband. We have twin girls that are 11 years old and in the 6 th grade. They attend Hellstern
Middle School and love it there. They are both dedicated swimmers for the Aquahawgs. We attend
many swim meets and travel a lot (which I love). Along with traveling, I love to garden and go on hikes
with my family. I have been at Parson Hills for 5 years now. I have taught Kindergarten, 1 st grade and 2 nd
grade here. I love teaching at Parson Hills! We have the best students, parents and staff around. I can
honestly say this is my favorite school that I have ever taught at. Parson Hills is “Pawsome”!

Hello, my name is Tonya Martin. I was born in Pensacola, Fl., graduated high school in Little Rock, AR, and graduated college from the U of A. This is my 5th year at Parson Hills in the 4th grade. I have loved being a part of the Parson Hills family, we have the best kids and families in Springdale. Although I only have a four legged baby named Dakota, I often tell people that I have 28 babies. My students become part of my family the minute they walk into my room. I feel blessed to walk the halls of Parson Hills everyday! Not only do I have the pleasure of working with grade level students but I also receive greetings and hugs from other students big and small as walk around the school. LOVE being a PANTHER 💕 Looking forward to many years as a Panther!!
Jazmyn and Angella have been leading the charge to build their own Moretech robot. Not only are they spending all of their EAST time on the project, they are also spending some of their lunch time and all of their recess time to master this complicated process. Next up will be coding the robot and connecting the coded robot to an iPad to be used as the controller. This great project is getting the girls ready for a project that they are working on for the Miracle League of Northwest Arkansas, an organization that helps special needs children play baseball throughout the year. Great work girls! We are so proud of you and all of your hard work!
Our SFLP class had a lot of fun decorating, preparing, and serving breakfast for our veterans. Please come join our class at Parson Hills-Monday-Thursday 8:00-11:00 in room 111. We would love to have you!
